Do I have to accept admission before attending Welcome Weekend?
No, the
matriculation deadline for both Round One and Round Two prospectives is April
29, 2004, after Wharton Welcome Weekend. One of the principle purposes of
Welcome Weekend is to help those who haven’t yet decided to make the
best possible decision. For those who have already decided to come to
Wharton, the weekend will be an opportunity to meet future
classmates and get a head start on integrating into Wharton life.
Should I come to Wharton Welcome Weekend if I already attended Winter
Welcome Week?
The Winter Welcome Week in February is only applicable to Round One
prospectives and intends to provide an early insight into Wharton, especially to
help with any decisions that are made before Wharton Welcome
Weekend. However, Welcome Weekend is the prospective event, which will be
attended by the majority of the admitted class. The activities planned for
both events differ, so we recommend that you attend Welcome Weekend even
if you decide to visit us during Winter Welcome Week.
Can my partner come to WWW?
Of course. We realize that partner's of admitted students are an
important part of the decision-making process. All wives, husbands,
significant others and children are invited to attend Wharton Welcome
Weekend. There are several planned events for partners and children,
and partners are also encouraged to attend many of the sessions for
students. Wharton Welcome Weekend is a great opportunity for both you
and your partner to learn more about the business school and life in
Philadelphia. We look forward to meeting all of you in April!
What is the attire for
the weekend?
Attire is casual for events during the day on Friday and Saturday. We
recommend business casual attire for the dinner event on Saturday night
(no jeans please).
Note: Please bring an umbrella. We're not sure why but for the past
Welcome Weekends, it has always rained on Friday and been sunny on
Saturday.

Can I
stay with a current student during Welcome Weekend?
Yes! To gain a complete experience of
student life at Wharton, you have the option to stay with a current
student during the WWW. This option is free and we will do our best to
match your preferences on a first-come, first-serve
basis.
NOTE: Due to overwhelming demand of housing, we are
currently recommending that you reserve a hotel room for the weekend.
We will contact you on or before April 10 to let you know if your
request for housing with a current student was successful, in which
case you can cancel the hotel reservation.
Where should I stay during Welcome Weekend? Center City or University
City?
It is entirely up to you. Most Wharton students live in Center
City, and you may want to stay there so you can have a better idea of
what it is like to live in the area and commute to campus. In addition,
there is a variety of shopping and nightlife options to choose from in
the Center City. Most of the events will occur in University City on
the Penn campus. Either way, both options are a short distance from
each other and are easily accessible via public transportation, cab,
or foot.
If you
are staying with a current student, you will likely be in Center City.
To get to the events on campus, you can walk, take the bus or trolley,
or split a cab with other WWW participants.
Where can I stay during Welcome Weekend?
At a hotel? With a student?
You can stay at one of the many hotels in Philadelphia. There are a
number of hotels close to Penn campus or in Center City. (A detailed
list of hotels is provided in the "Your Arrival" section of this
website.) In addition, two hotels in University City, Inn at Penn and
Sheraton University City, are offering discounted rates for WWW
participants. Be sure to reference Wharton Welcome Welcome when making
your reservation to receive the special rates.
You have the option to stay with a current student during the WWW
to gain a complete experience of student life at Wharton. This option
is free. We encourage you to sign-up early, since we will provide
student housing on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Also, you can check out the discussion board on E-talk regarding
alternative housing options for the weekend.

When is
the latest I can register for the weekend?
The registration deadline is April 11, 2004 by 5:00pm EST. However, we would like to know
as soon as possible if you will (or will not) be able to attend.
Is it necessary to
stay the entire time?
As much as we'd like for you to stay and spend the weekend with us, it
is not necessary to stay the entire weekend. We recommend you look at the
schedule and identify those activities that you are most interested in and
make your decision accordingly.
My plans have changed, and I can no longer attend. How do I let you know?
Please send us an email at
welcomeweekend@wharton.upenn.edu. In the
email, include your name and phone number.
Do you have any
information about Pre-Term?
Academic Services will be holding a workshop specifically to answer your
academic-related questions on Saturday morning of Welcome Weekend. Please
see your schedule upon arrival for you assigned session and room location.
Can I
bring my child(ren) to the Saturday night dinner?
Unfortunately, children will not be able to attend the closing
dinner.
