The University of Pennsylvania campus is located in an area of west of the Schuylkill River known as University City.
 

AIR

Philadelphia International Airport is approximately 20 minutes (depending on traffic) away from campus.  There are several options for getting to campus from the airport:

TAXI.  Tell the driver that you are heading to the Penn campus, 38th and Walnut Street.  You will be dropped off directly by Huntsman Hall.  A metered taxicab costs about $25-30 and the ride takes about 20 minutes.

VAN.  Lady Liberty (215-724-8888) is a van transportation service.  No reservation necessary, just dial '27' from an airport courtesy phone. $8/person; runs 24 hours a day.

TRAIN.  The Septa Airport Express Train leaves 9 minutes after every half hour, and will take you to either the University City Station on Convention Ave or to 30th Street Station.  The fare is $6.00 and the ride takes 18 minutes to the University City Station.

TRAIN

The Amtrak 30th Street Station is conveniently located at 30th and Market Street, a brief cab ride away from the Penn campus.  From the station, passengers can take a cab (about $5, including tip) or a 10 minute walk to campus.  If you decide to walk, exit the train station on the 29th Street side.  Turn left and walk down 29th Street, crossing Market Street and then Chestnut Street, until you hit a "T" intersection at Walnut Street.  Turn right and walk up Walnut Street several blocks to campus.  Train reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.

CAR

From the Northeast:
Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 3.
Take the Black Horse Pike (Route 168W) one mile to I-295 South.
Go one mile to Exit 26, take I-76 to the Walt Whitman Bridge.
Cross the Bridge onto I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) to Exit 40, South Street (left hand exit).
Turn left at the top of the ramp onto South Street to Campus.
Turn right on 33rd Street.
Turn left on Walnut Street. Huntsman Hall will be on your left, on the corner of 38th and Walnut Street.

From South:
Take I-95 North to PA-291 (Platt Bridge).
Cross the bridge (Penrose Avenue) to 26th Street.
Turn left onto 26th Street and follow signs to I-76 West (Schuylkill Expressway).
Take I-76 West 3 miles to Exit 40 (South Street -- one mile, left hand exit).
Turn left at top of ramp onto South Street to Campus.
Turn right on 33rd Street.
Turn left on Walnut Street. Huntsman Hall will be on your left, on the corner of 38th and Walnut Street

From West or North:
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Exit 24 (Valley Forge).
Take I-76 East (Schuylkill Expressway) approximately 17 miles to Exit 40 (South Street -- left hand exit).
Turn right at top of ramp onto South Street to Campus.
Turn right on 33rd Street.
Turn left on Walnut Street. Huntsman Hall will be on your left, on the corner of 38th and Walnut Street

Parking

University Parking is available directly across Huntsman Hall at 38th and Walnut.  Rates are variable, averaging $7-12/day.  Metered street parking is also available (limit 2-4 hours).

I came into Philadelphia with some trepidation about my potential classmates at Wharton, but left days later after a fantastic weekend knowing that I would attend Wharton, and would do so with a collection of incredible people.

I was torn between Wharton and another program at the time, but realized via my interaction with the 1st years and my fellow admits that Wharton was not the stuffy, quant-focused school that I had pre-conceived. Instead, I found well-rounded, community-focused students who could speak to a variety of academic and extra-curricular experiences. These leaders were people that I could see myself hanging out with and working with.
