The Wharton Health Care Club (WHCC) is one of the largest professional clubs on campus, with almost 200 members.
The membership is very diverse, representing a mix of educational backgrounds (MDs, PhDs, JDs, MSs, and BSs/BAs)
over 16 nationalities and 12 languages spoken. Approximately half of the club membership consists of students in
the Health Care Management Program while the other half consists of generalist MBAs.
With payment of annual dues, members are invited to participate in our social events, career
resources and events, and speaker series.
Wine and Cheese Speaker Series: Twice a month the WHCC invites a leader in the Health Care field to come to campus and speak with approximately twelve students in an informal setting. Often this coincides with other guest lectures on campus.
Lunchtime Speaker Series: Once a month, the WHCC invites professors and practitioners to lecture on the application of business school curriculum/theory to current business practices. Topics have included operations management & medical errors, public policy & Medicare Part D.
Career Panel: Each year the WHCC invites alumni back to campus for a panel to discuss career paths and companies, and give general advice.
Interview Prep Materials/Company Office Hours: The Health Care Club compiles industry and company-specific interview questions and general facts. Members have access to all current and past material. Second years will hold office hours to give others the inside scoop on what they thought of their pre-business school employer as well as their internship employer, how to excel in interviews, etc.
Health Care Business Conference: Attended by over 500 students, alumni, and business leaders, the 10th Annual Wharton Health Care Business Conference was held in February 2005. All conference co-Chairs and Directors are members of the Wharton Health Care Club.
Social Events: The Health Care Club hosts day trips to many different Philadelphia locations as well as cocktail hours to promote networking within the club.
