The Wharton Jazz Club is dedicated to providing Jazz education and recreation to the Wharton MBA community.

Social, open to MBA students and partners, with annual fees set at $10; annual elections to be held to determine Club Officers.

With a large group of students and partners interested in listening to and sometimes playing Jazz, our goal is to provide an arena for these people to get together and enjoy the genre. The Jazz Club also aims to provide a post MBA network to leverage the community members when visiting other countries and cities. The club will focus on:

  *    Increasing awareness of the genre for novice listeners and neophytes

  *    Providing Jazz education in general

  *    Inviting guest speakers from Academia, business and the music setting

  *    Leveraging the group size for discounts at clubs, concerts and other events such as excursions to jazz fests

  *    Organizing joint events with other social clubs like the cigar club, the wine club, culinary club and the undergraduate Penn Jazz club

  *    Bringing together student musicians to use the club as an outlet for creativity and practice

  *    Creating impromptu performing jazz ensembles

  *    Providing an up-to-date website, with a calendar of events in general, jazz info etc

  *    Speaker Series – Experts will be brought in to discuss Jazz appreciation, including stylistic and national differences

  *    Jazz Brunch and Dinner series – with live Jazz in venues like Zanzibar Blue

  *    Regular Events – Based on member feedback

  *    Annual Trip to a selected key festival like the New Orleans Jazz Fest

  *    Sponsorships – approaching a number of well-known clubs and labels to suggest sponsorship of the Club for mutual interest.
