The Wharton School

In 1881, entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton founded the world's first collegiate school of management. True to this day, he believed that future business leaders needed an education that was both broad and rigorous. Today, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania is widely recognized as one of the top business schools in the world.

The school is frequently cited as the most effective in preparing graduates to lead organizations in a global business environment. Indeed, the school has produced a significant number of global leaders and industry luminaries who have made a significant impact on the world of business and beyond. Powered by more than 75,000 alumni based in more than 120 countries, Wharton has one of the strongest and largest alumni networks of any school.

The school continues to innovate and break new ground. Wharton has more top ranked academic departments than any other business school. Armed with 19 research centers, Wharton professors are advancing business knowledge in diverse fields and working with business leaders around the world.

Among the leading universities, Wharton enrolls the largest percentage of international students. It prides itself on the knowledge base, richness, and distinct cultural flavor that its international student body provides. Through its unique alliance with INSEAD, Wharton now sends scores of its students to both Europe and Asia.

Signaling a further deepening in its international character, the school witnessed this year the creation of the Wharton Arab Club - a clear indication of the professional and academic interest that has emerged for the region. Notably, the club is holding information sessions to attract potential candidates to the school, serving as a conduit for Arab employers to obtain new recruits, organizing a major business conference in Dubai in March 2004, and leading a career trek to the Middle East to visit major companies, meet decision-makers, and expose MBA students to the exciting challenges of working in the region.

The club is sponsored by prominent corporations such as Aramex, Capital Guidance, Orascom Telecom, Public Warehousing Company, and M.H. Alshaya Co.
